Man Makes Early Morning Stroll... Destroyed by Bus

What kind of shitty do we live in where our seasoned citizens cannot get a bit of exercise on the great streets of the warehouse district without being dragged for a block under an RTA bus?

I had the distinct pleasure of working in the MetroHealth trauma unit early Tuesday morning to witness one of the more horrific events I've encountered.

And God bless him, he made it a couple of days... But there really was no way in hell he was living. His brain turned to pudding on Wednesday.

CLEVELAND -- An elderly Cleveland man who was struck by a RTA bus on Tuesday died of his injuries on Friday evening.
Miguel Muniz, 66, of Storer Ave., died from severe trauma at MetroHealth Medical Center where he was taken shortly after the accident.
Police said Muniz was struck about 6 a.m. while he was in a crosswalk on West SIxth Street and Superior Avenue.
He was pinned under the bus after he was hit, witnesses said.

Pinned is a very technical way of saying 'sucked under the bus and dragged for 100 yards'.

But the bigger issue is just what a clusterfuck that intersection is... We often walk to the Warehouse District without any sort of problems crossing the streets, even occasionally jaywalking... But the West 6th and Superior spaghetti mess of streets is always an uncomfortable and frequently unmanageable intersection that pauses our lively discussions of past hijinx and women of interest for the upcoming night (Full disclosure.. We appreciate boobs.... Big boobs).

The crosswalk signs are frequently malfunctioning, giving us a walk sign right when the asshole drivers of cleveland get a green light... Or hell, a red light... It doesn't seem to matter... Frankly, we are not surprised that we have yet to be hit stumbling back from an evening of debauchery and hilarity in the basement of the Blind Pig. Knock on our bonerific hard wood.

God bless the poor man.
