Another Day, Another Golfer receives a Lap Dance... Another fire in Myrtle Beach

Locals favorite restaurant, The Rivertown Bistro, burned down yesterday.

There are times in ones life where one just has to take a step back and reevaluate their entire existence... their reason for being. And the destruction of a charming little diner that just tried everything in it's chicken fried steak sort of way to scream sophistication... least of which is the subtle advertisement as a 'Bistro'... is certainly one of those times. Taps was heard under the Conway Bridge last night as the blaze flamed up into the chilly Myrtle Beach night.

Parts of Third Avenue to remain closed

An early morning fire destroyed a popular Conway restaurant today.

The blaze at the Rivertown Bistro on 1111 Third Ave. was reported at 2:48 a.m. by a passing Conway police officer, Battalion Chief Arnold Spain said. When Spain arrived at 2:50 a.m., he said he saw flames shooting up from the roof of the building.

The fire was under control by 4 a.m. No injuries were reported and about 30 firemen battled the blaze, Spain said. The contents of the building were a total loss and between 70 to 85 percent of the building was damaged, Spain said.

We do not mean to disparage what is apparently a popular hick establishment in the ugly step-city of Myrtle Beach that is Conway... But we have never been a resident of any city that either encourages or appreciates itself for the number of fires that destroy Beachwear stores, the homes of Old Ladies with Life Alert in Murrells Inlet, and Pseudo Fine Dining establishments.... Oh, and lest we forget... Hangouts of the Hells Angels.

It does seem that people did like the place... Reviews Here.. I'm particularly interested in the first reviewer who states that they frequently drive from Little River to Rivertown Bistro for lunch.... How long is that lunch hour? For those living in Socastee... It's at least 15 miles and 25 minutes of drive.

This one continues to crack me up. I truly love how the cameraman was somehow completely distracted byt the Green, White, and Red sign of Schlotzsky's Deli.... As if the enormous tongues of flames demolishing thousands of 2.99 beach towels and extinguishing the amazing potential of dozens of hermit crabs with a ferocity only seen from Kobe Bryant that one night in Colorado.

Hahah.. Priceless.

Oh, and while we're on the topic... And I in no way take responsibility for anyone who attempts to use this information... The easiest way to Arson a place on purpose if you want to collect money is to put a stack of Newspapers right next to a stove and then begin to burn oil or something similar in a skillet. Stone it.
